I trained at Hertfordshire University (formerly Hertfordshire College of Art and Design) and qualified as an Art Psychotherapist in 1990.

Since then I have worked in a variety of statutory and community settings including the NHS; MIND; Women’s Aid; Devon County Council; local schools and Pupil Referral Units. I spent fourteen years in a Specialist sexual abuse team within the Child and Adolescent Mental Health service (CAMHS) as well as co-founding and directing a Social Enterprise offering individual and group support to families affected by domestic abuse. I specialise in providing trauma focussed interventions with children and young people affected by sexual and domestic abuse.

I am trained in Children’s Accelerated Trauma Therapy (CATT) which is a cognitive therapeutic protocol that uses play and arts based techniques to help children process and re-script traumatic memories in ways that are comfortable for them and age appropriate. CATT is designed for use with children and young people who have PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).

As an art psychotherapist I have worked alongside adults, children and young people both individually and in groups and as a Supervisor with counselling service teams; family intervention teams; therapists in training; and individual art psychotherapists and counsellors.

As an artist I am interested in the combining of mixed media, words and found objects to create conversations about memory and our place in the world. I am particularly fascinated with clay and am learning all the time….
